Outgoing Turkish Ambassador sends farewell Message to Somali People

Outgoing Turkish Ambassador to Somalia Alper Aktaş has delivered a farewell message to the Somali people, expressing his appreciation for the country and wishing its people peace, prosperity and continued development.

Aktaş, who was recently replaced as Türkiye’s ambassador to Somalia, said he was grateful for the welcome and support he received from Somali communities during his diplomatic tenure.

The ambassador served in Somalia from March 2024, during which he said he worked on humanitarian, political and other areas of cooperation while supporting the strong relationship between the Turkish and Somali governments.

Aktaş praised the Somali people for welcoming him and supporting the work he had been assigned to carry out on behalf of the Turkish government. He said the experiences and developments he witnessed during his time in Somalia would remain in his memory.

During his more than two years in the country, Aktaş was involved in several areas of Türkiye-Somalia cooperation, including humanitarian assistance and political engagement.

His tenure also coincided with the advancement of major cooperation in Somalia’s energy sector, including Türkiye’s involvement in oil exploration, with production preparations now approaching completion, according to the report.

Aktaş expressed his best wishes to the Somali people, praying that they would enjoy peace, prosperity and development, while thanking them for the cooperation and hospitality extended to him during his diplomatic assignment.
