The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly criticized reports suggesting that Somaliland intends to establish a diplomatic office in occupied East Jerusalem, warning that such a step could create further tensions surrounding the city’s disputed status.
In a statement, the OIC reaffirmed its longstanding position that “Israel’s sovereignty over East Jerusalem is not recognized under international law” and stressed its support for Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The organization warned against efforts involving unrecognized entities and said such actions could complicate sensitive political and legal issues surrounding Jerusalem.
The statement also reiterated support for Somalia’s unity amid growing regional attention over the reports.
