The North-East Administration has announced an arrest warrant against Fahima Yussuf Qooje, who previously served as a member of the administration and later stated that she had left it.
In her remarks, Fahima claimed that she joined the North-West Administration and renounced her previous stance regarding the unity of the Republic of Somalia, as she described.
Fahima has been accused of committing what authorities call “treason against the nation.” On that basis, officials said she was ordered to be arrested so she can be brought before the court and prosecuted for the charges filed against her.
Authorities also stated that Fahima was among the individuals who helped organize the conflict between the North-East Administration and the North-West Administration, a war that officials say led to Laascaanood being taken out of the control of the forces stationed there.
Authorities further alleged that the dispute between the two administrations escalated into armed clashes, resulting in serious security and governance disruptions in the region.
They said the warrant is intended to ensure that those accused of involvement in the conflict are held accountable through the legal process, and to reinforce stability and public order in areas affected by the fighting.
