Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) says several Al-Shabaab members were killed or wounded in airstrikes carried out in the Fidow area of Middle Shabelle region, Hirshabelle State.
In a statement, NISA said the strikes targeted a gathering of Al-Shabaab members at a location identified as a meeting point for the militants.
The agency said the operation inflicted casualties on the targeted group, but did not provide an official figure for those killed.
NISA added that the operation was conducted in cooperation with international partners supporting Somalia with air operations against Al-Shabaab.
The United States and Türkiye have provided air-support capabilities to Somalia in operations targeting Al-Shabaab.
Somali government forces are understood to provide intelligence and information on suspected militant locations, which are then used to support air operations.
Authorities have not yet released further details on the exact number of casualties resulting from the latest strikes in Middle Shabelle.
