Prime Minister Roble, the federal member states government heads, Banadir Governor and other key political stakeholders on 27 May 2021, reached a consensus on five key elements to conduct an all inclusive Somalia elections.
Its the second day of the talks between the Prime Minister of Somalia, the heads of states and Banadir region head to discuss the Somali elections.
The opening of the conference took place calmly with Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Rooble presiding it having taken over on May 1, 2021 the responsibility on security and elections following talks that ended the dispute over the term extension of the National Assembly.
A spokesman for the Somali government said there were no issues so far in yesterday’s meeting that were agreed upon upon by the Federal government, member States and Banadir authorities but he expressed optimism that a positive outcome would be achieved at the negotiating table.
This national consultation conference on national elections was different from previous meetings as it was preceded by separate meetings to set stage for the opening of special meeting by the Prime Minister of Somalia federal government with State governments urging them to support him with serious responsibility he was tasked with on the holding of elections and Security docket.
During the discussion, a programme schedule for holding parliamentary and presidential elections was set up for the state governments to prepare in the hosting of the assembly of elected MPs and aspirants.
