A statement from Puntland says it has urged Galmudug to stop allowing military supplies being transported for federal forces operating in Galmudug’s areas to pass through the airports and territory under Galmudug’s control.
“Puntland calls on Galmudug to refrain from allowing military supplies to pass through the airports and territory it controls, supplies that are intended to harm the people of Puntland,” the Puntland statement said.
Puntland said Galmudug should reconsider the movement of these supplies, claiming they are intended to harm the people of Puntland.
According to the statement, the Puntland administration made the call because it believes the supplies are being used against Puntland civilians.
Puntland also stated that there are no forces registered with the Federal Government operating in its areas, saying President Said Deni’s administration previously emphasized that only forces belonging to the local authorities are present there.
Puntland also noted that the Puntland Security Force a specially trained unit recently fought against forces that included personnel from Puntland’s administration along with PMPF, while tensions are still reported to remain in the affected areas.
Puntland added that Somalia’s federal government despite earlier claims that federal forces are present in Puntland’s regions has not yet responded to Puntland’s statements denying the presence of any forces outside those controlled by the local authorities.
