Kenyan special forces launch operation after attack on Military camp in Mandera

Kenyan special forces have launched security operations in Mandera County following an attack on a military camp in Lafey District allegedly carried out by Al-Shabaab militants.

According to Kenyan security officials, the attackers targeted a camp occupied by security forces, leaving at least three soldiers injured during the assault.

Authorities saidy” specialized counterterrorism units have been deployed to track down those responsible for the attack and prevent further incursions in the border region”.

Kenya has intensified security operations along areas bordering Somalia, citing concerns over cross-border infiltration by Al-Shabaab militants. Officials also warned that the group continues efforts to recruit local residents in border communities.

The latest operation forms part of Kenya’s broader campaign to counter militant activities and strengthen security in its northeastern counties
