Jubaland President pardons several prisoners convicted of minor crimes a head of Eid al-Adha

The President of the Jubaland State, Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Ahmed Madoobe), has pardoned prisoners convicted of minor crimes held at the central prison in Kismayo.

A decree issued by the Office of the President of Jubaland State of Somalia, dated May 26, 2026, stated that the pardon came on the occasion of Eid al-Adha 1447 AH.

According to the decree, 31 prisoners from the central prison in Kismayo were released from prison after the President of Jubaland granted them pardon.

This decision reportedly came after a proposal made by the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs of Jubaland as well as the Attorney General of Jubaland.

The decree also stated that the Attorney General of Jubaland will monitor the implementation of the pardon and the release of the prisoners.
