In a fierce confrontation in the southern part of Mudug region, government forces, supported by Galmudug Regional Government Dervishes and local residents known as Mawislayda, engaged in heavy fighting with Al-Shabaab (AS) fighters who launched an attack on the Shabeellow area today . Sources say coordinated response from the Federal Government and Galmudug forces proved resilient against the group’s assault.
Officials from the Federal Government of Somalia who spoke to Mustaqbal said that the attack, initiated by Al-Shabaab with explosions, was aimed at the joint forces who demonstrated heightened vigilance during the assault on Shabeellow. While the actual extent of the losses incurred in the Shabeellow area has not been officially disclosed, various sources informed Mustaqbal that at least three people lost their lives, and numerous others sustained injuries.
Emergency forces dispatched by both the Federal Government and the regional Government swiftly reached the conflict zone in Shabeellow. Government officials indicated that significant victories have been achieved in the ongoing conflict, showcasing the effectiveness of the joint efforts to repel the group’s aggression.
The government said collaboration between government forces, Galmudug Regional Government Dervishes, and local residents underscores the collective determination to counter the threat posed by Al-Shabaab.
