Hormuud Salaam Foundation Hosts Graduation Ceremony for Second Cohort of Scholarship Beneficiaries

The Hormuud Salaam Foundation held a grand farewell ceremony in Mogadishu for the second cohort of students who completed their studies under the foundation’s annual scholarship program.

The graduates specialized in diverse fields, including Agriculture, Land and Marine Studies, Computer Science, Sales and Logistics, Law, and Sharia. Their academic journey took them to various institutions across Mogadishu, including SIMAD University, Banaadir University, Jamhuuriya University, Hormuud University, Zamzam University, Almaas University, and Somali National University.

This group of students won the scholarship in 2020 through a transparent and competitive selection process. The Hormuud Salaam Foundation covered all their university tuition fees and provided consistent support through workshops and training sessions designed to enhance their knowledge, skills, and personal development.

During the ceremony, officials from the foundation, educators, parents, graduates, and other dignitaries praised the initiative’s impact.

Abdullahi Nur Osman, Chairman of the Hormuud Salaam Foundation, highlighted the foundation’s commitment to addressing Somalia’s developmental needs by selecting fields critical to the nation’s growth.

“These scholarships are the first of their kind in the country and are fully funded by the Hormuud Salaam Foundation,” said Osman.

He also emphasized the transparency of the selection process. “Applications are submitted online within a set timeframe, and the system automatically closes once the target number is reached. The exams are prepared by independent experts, ensuring impartiality,” he added.

Dr. Mohamed Hassan Bidey, Chairman of the Union of Somali Universities, also spoke at the event, expressing his gratitude to the Hormuud Salaam Foundation for facilitating access to education for Somali students who might not have otherwise had the opportunity.

“This initiative is a beacon of hope for many Somali youth and a significant contribution to the advancement of our education system,” Dr. Bidey said.

Parents and graduates took the opportunity to thank the Hormuud Salaam Foundation for the life-changing opportunity. They commended the foundation’s unwavering commitment to supporting Somali youth and its broader efforts to uplift the Somali community.

Beyond scholarships, the Hormuud Salaam Foundation is known for its dedication to supporting underprivileged individuals and families. The organization has facilitated job creation, disaster relief efforts, and other initiatives aimed at empowering vulnerable communities in Somalia.
