President of Hirshabelle Federal Member State of Somalia , Ali Abdullahi Hussein (Ali Guudlaawe), chaired a cabinet meeting in which security topped the agenda, with the regional government pledging renewed efforts to clear remaining pockets of Al-Shabaab presence.
During the session, the Minister of Security briefed the Council of Ministers on the latest security situation across Hirshabelle. He stated that technical operations are actively underway to eliminate Al-Shabaab fighters from the limited districts and rural areas where they still maintain a presence.
The Minister emphasized that “strategic coordination between local forces and national allies is ongoing” , with the goal of restoring full stability to all Hirshabelle-administered territories.
President Guudlaawe underscored the urgency of the matter and urged the security sector to fast-track operations aimed at liberating the remaining areas. He called for accountability and regular reporting on progress made in counter-terrorism efforts.
The security update comes amid broader national efforts to weaken Al-Shabaab’s territorial control across central and southern Somalia. Hirshabelle remains one of the frontline states in that campaign.
