Galmudug rejects Puntland allegations over alleged use of Its territory.

The Galmudug administration has rejected allegations from Puntland that airports and territory under its control are being used to facilitate the movement of forces that Puntland considers a threat to its security and stability.

The allegations were reportedly made by the Puntland administration, which accused Galmudug of allowing its territory and airports to be used by forces allegedly seeking to undermine the Puntland government.

Responding to the claims, Galmudug’s Minister of Planning, Investment and Economic Development, Abdirahman Ahmed Hayle, denied the allegations in an interview with BBC Somali, saying there was no basis for the accusations.

The minister said relations between Galmudug and Puntland remained positive and questioned why Galmudug would allow individuals or groups seeking to destabilize Puntland to use its territory as a launching point.

“Galmudug is not a place from which attacks are launched against Puntland, and there is no such activity as alleged in the statement we saw,” Hayle said.

He urged the Puntland administration to focus on resolving internal disputes within its own areas rather than attributing the situation to neighbouring federal member states.

The Galmudug minister described it as regrettable that internal tensions in Puntland were being blamed on other administrations that share borders with the region. He argued that the disputes should be addressed internally.

“There have been tensions and disagreements among local communities in recent times. Internal matters should be resolved internally rather than being pushed onto other federal member states,” he said.

The response follows recent accusations from Puntland against Galmudug, with the Galmudug administration now formally distancing itself from the allegations.

The exchange comes amid broader political and security tensions among Somalia’s federal member states, as regional administrations continue to navigate disputes over security, political authority and relations with the Federal Government.
