At least 5 people were killed and several others injured after a heavy fight broke out between Hirshabelle forces and forces allied to Nur Dheere an officer who is said to be defected from Hirshabelle.
The fight took place in Koshin area of Beledweyne and began after a convoy of vehicles escorting Hirran Governor ,Ali Jeyte Osman and commander of battalion of 27th division from Feer district were denied access to the road that leads to the town.
Five members of the rebel group were confirmed dead while more than 10 others , including civilians have been injured and taken to the city’s main hospital for treatment.
Hirran regional administration has not yet commented on the fight between Hirshabelle forces and the forces led by Nur Dheere who is said to have defected from Hirshabelle.The fighting lasted for several hours.
Although sporadic gun shots could still be heard last night, there is not ongoing fight in the morning but tension remains high.
