Firefighters extinguish Major Blaze at Bakaaro Market in Mogadishu

Firefighters and emergency response teams from the Banadir region have extinguished a major fire that broke out at Bakaaro Market, one of the largest commercial centres in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu.

The fire erupted on Tuesday, sending thick clouds of smoke over parts of the city and raising concerns among traders and residents in the densely populated market area.

Emergency teams were deployed to the scene and worked to bring the blaze under control, eventually preventing the fire from spreading further.

According to state media, authorities have launched an investigation to establish the cause of the fire and are assessing the extent of the damage caused by the incident.

Bakaaro Market is a major commercial hub in Mogadishu, with thousands of traders operating businesses and shops across the area. The latest incident has renewed attention on fire safety and emergency preparedness in the capital’s busy commercial districts.

Further details on the cause of the blaze, the number of businesses affected and the value of losses are expected to emerge as authorities complete their assessment.
