Federal and South West Forces launch joint security operations in Baidoa to enhance safety and stability of the town

Somali Federal Government forces, alongside the South West regional forces, have begun coordinated operations inside and outskirts of the city of Baidoa aimed at strengthening security.

The operation comes after reports of incidents involving elements accused of carrying out destabilizing or violent acts in and around Baidoa where the South West administration operates from sources in the area.

Security officials, who held meetings to discuss the crackdown, issued new decisions intended to further enhance the stability and safety in the city.

The measures are described as actions taken against armed groups linked to former South West President Abdiaziz Laftagareen, whose forces are accused of undermining stability in the town.

Meanwhile, reports from Baidoa indicate that transport into the city has been temporarily halted during nighttime hours for security reasons. In addition, checkpoints in Bay Region have been increased.
