Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble, leaders of the candidates’ union, Hirshabelle and Galmudug regional administrations and other officials, agreed to work together on security and talk on the elections’ resolutions at an iftar dinner in Mogadishu last night.

The meeting comes at a time when the recent  violence in Mogadishu has calmed down, after the Federal Government agreed to hold indirect elections and resume election talks.

Abdirahman Yusuf Al-Adala ,Somalia’s Deputy Minister of Information said the purpose of the meeting was for everyone to be  responsible to play their part in the resolution process.

The delegation’s  meeting was to discuss how to work on elections, and everything related to the discussion of the options is based on the Agreement on September 17th.

Opposition members in attendance included former Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire, and Wadajir Party leader Abdirahman Abdishakur as well as other members.

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo who recently addressed the nation said he welcomed the calls by Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble and the presidents of Galmudug, Hirshabelle, South West, and the governor of Benadir region for elections in the country. .

Presidential candidates, for their part, welcomed the statement from the leaders of Hirshabelle, Galmudug and Southwest, but some criticized the speech by Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo on recent issues, particularly the elections.
