Historic Milestone as Somali Officers Graduate in Russia after nearly 40 years

The Russian government has trained new officers for the Somali Police Force, who officially graduated on Friday from the Academy of Management under the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the country. The officers earned Master’s degrees.

The officers specializing in general administration and strategic planning received training in key areas needed for effective leadership of security institutions.

Their expertise will support better public-sector management, policy development, and long-term strategic planning aimed at improving the quality of Somali police services.

This graduation is seen as a major achievement for both the Somali Police Force and Somalia as a whole, as it is said to strengthens the knowledge and leadership skills of officers being prepared to take an active role in rebuilding and modernizing security institutions.

The event is also said to holds historical importance, marking the first time in nearly 40 years that Somali officers have graduated from a university located in Russia.
