Eight civilians killed in blast in southern Mudug region.

Eight people were killed and two others injured in a car bomb blast in Ba’adweyne, Mudug region.

Those who died in the afternoon blast included three children, aged between three and five.

Meanwhile, a car carrying young khat traders on its way to Amara area was also hit by an explosion, and three people, including a woman, were reportedly injured in the blast.

These areas have recently been liberated from strong presence of Al-Shabaab militants and there have been ongoing operations against Al-Shabaab.

It was just days ago when two civilians were also killed in an explosion in Qaycad area of ​​Mudug region.

Government and Galmudug forces have removed many landmines from the roads, but some roads remain the hidden danger.

An explosion on the 7th of this month targeted a convoy of vehicles carrying the ground commander Gen. Mohamed Tahliil Bihi, on his way to Qeycad in the region, where one soldier was killed and five others were wounded.

There has been heightened government and Federal member state forces joint operation against Al-Shabaab operatives in the region which seen government forces capture key Alshabaab villages.
