Somalia’s Danab Special Forces are conducting tough operations against Al-Shabaab in areas along the border between Lower Shabelle and Middle Shabelle regions.
Commanders leading the Danab forces said the troops had entered villages and settlements along the border and destroyed several Al-Shabaab bases in the area.
The operations are being carried out in areas administered by South West and Hirshabelle states as part of ongoing efforts to weaken Al-Shabaab’s presence.
In recent weeks, Danab forces have intensified operations in Lower Shabelle, particularly in areas along the banks of the Shabelle River where Al-Shabaab militants remain active.
Officials said the 164th Battalion of the 16th Danab Brigade has established new bases in areas along the border between Lower Shabelle and Middle Shabelle to support continued military operations against Al-Shabaab.
Danab Special Forces called on members of the public to closely work with security agencies and share information concerning security threats and activities linked to Al-Shabaab.
