Baidoa Hospitals treats 71 civilians wounded in recent fighting

Hospitals in Baidoa are treating civilians wounded in the latest fighting between Federal Government forces supporting the South West State administration and militias loyal to former South West State President Abdiaziz Laftagareen.

Hospital authorities in Baidoa said they have treated 71 people with various injuries since Thursday, including 15 women and 12 children. One person reportedly died from injuries sustained during the fighting.

Relatives of some of the wounded said several patients require specialized medical care outside Baidoa, including in Mogadishu, due to the seriousness of their injuries.

Meanwhile, patients with minor injuries who completed treatment have been discharged and returned to their homes, according to sources in Baidoa who spoke to Mustaqbal Media.

The recurring clashes in Baidoa have resulted in deaths and injuries, with civilians bearing much of the impact of the fighting. The city’s main hospital continues to treat people wounded at different stages of the ongoing conflict.
