The Arab Parliament has condemned what it described as Israeli interference in Somalia’s internal affairs, reaffirming its support for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
In a statement, the Arab Parliament criticized reported Israeli engagement with the Somaliland administration and rejected claims regarding the opening of a diplomatic mission in Jerusalem by the administration led by Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi “Cirro.”
The Arab Parliament described the reported developments as “concerning” and reiterated its firm support for the unity of Somalia, stressing that “any actions that undermine the country’s territorial integrity are unacceptable”.
The statement emphasized that the Arab League recognizes Somalia as a sovereign and unified state and opposes any initiatives that could lead to the division of the Somali people or threaten the country’s national cohesion.
The condemnation follows similar statements issued by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), regional organizations, and several countries that have criticized reported Israeli efforts viewed as undermining Somalia’s sovereignty and unity.
The Arab Parliament called on the international community to respect Somalia’s territorial integrity and support efforts aimed at preserving peace, stability, and national unity in the Horn of Africa.
