The Minister of Education, Culture, and Higher Education of the Federal Government of Somalia, Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir has announced that the remaining 10,000 teachers promised by the ministry will soon be finalized.
This announcement comes after the President of the federal government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, attended the Somali Day celebrations on November 22, 2025, during which he urged the ministry to complete the registration of the remaining teachers.
Minister Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir emphasized that the Ministry of Education will respond accordingly and finalize the initiative, which will also include training for teachers.
“We are completing the plan for the 10,000 teachers, and we are also training all currently employed teachers. We are focusing on the education curriculum and the reconstruction of schools,” said the Minister of Education
Somalia’s Ministry of Education has been actively pursuing reforms to bridge gaps in the education system, ensuring that every child has access to quality learning opportunities. The government has also said its prioritizing sealing the education gaps in areas liberated from Alshabab control
The federal government of Somalia indicated that the government is committed to transforming the education sector and the initiative is part of efforts to bridge the gap of shortage of teachers in schools.
