Reports have emerged indicating that today, the President of the federal government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, is set to travel to Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, for an official visit.
Reliable sources indicate that the President will make a brief tour through Uganda and Ethiopia, with his trip expected to last just one day.
According to the information obtained, President Hassan received an official invitation from Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, with whom he will hold critical discussions in Addis Ababa.
The primary purpose of the visit, as reported, is to advance the ongoing dialogue between the two governments and finalize the Ankara agreement.
There is also speculation that the two nations might sign a new maritime agreement, given that Somalia had previously agreed to grant Ethiopia access to its waters, enabling direct dealings with the central government.
Additionally, discussions are expected to cover the presence of Ethiopian forces and their participation in the new AUSSOM mission launched earlier this year in Somalia.
