Somalia: President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Civil Society Organizations Discuss the State of the Nation

The President of the federal government of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held a special meeting with Civil Society Organizations, during which he listened to their recommendations on the current state of the country, elections, reconciliation, and security, as reported by the Office of the Presidency.

During the meeting, President Mohamud shared updates on the Federal Government of Somalia’s efforts to strengthen the campaign for One Person, One Vote elections.

He emphasized the government’s commitment to achieving public elections of one person one vote moving away from the indirect electoral processes that have characterized the formation of successive administrations in the country.

Civil Society Organizations frequently offer insights into the nation’s situation, issuing warnings about emerging threats and reinforcing peace initiatives aimed at advancing the country’s development.
