Somali Government Reaffirms Commitment to Securing Hiiraan Region

The Somali Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to restoring security in the Hiiraan region, with senior officials engaging local communities and security leaders in Beledweyne over the past few days.

The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Daahir Shire, held a meeting with residents of Hiiraan, emphasizing the government’s dedication to improving security in Beledweyne as part of broader national stabilization efforts.

“For the past 90 days, we have been working tirelessly to bring peace to the Hiiraan region. The government’s policy is clear, and the President, Prime Minister, and Parliament have set a focused direction. We must not lag behind in achieving peace and conducting one-person-one-vote elections,” said Minister Daahir Shire.

The Minister’s remarks come amid the government’s ongoing efforts to create a secure environment for democratic elections and ensure national stability.

This visit is part of a broader initiative by the Somali Federal Government to engage communities across the country and strengthen coordination with local leaders to tackle insecurity.

He said the government remains committed to realizing its vision of peace, security, and inclusive governance, as outlined in its plans for a nationwide electoral process.
