The Djibouti Coast Guard has repotdly successfully rescued three fishermen who had been missing for over a month off the coast of Berbera.
The security agencies in Djibouti presented the rescued fishermen, who were found drifting in the Red Sea after their boat’s engine malfunctioned.
One of the fishermen spoke to the media, explaining their ordeal.
“We left Berbera on December 6, 2024. A mechanical failure occurred with our boat’s engine, and we were adrift at sea for 29 days before being rescued by the Djibouti Coast Guard,” he recounted.
The Coast Guard confirmed that the fishermen would be returned to Berbera, their hometown, safely.
The rescue highlights the critical role of the Djibouti Coast Guard in ensuring maritime safety in the region.
