In a move towards reconstruction and development, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is spearheading projects in areas once under the control of Al-Shabab (AS), with a primary focus on the establishment of water wells. The UAE Ambassador to Somalia, Ahmed Al-Rumaithi, recently signed an agreement affirming the commitment of the UAE government to support various initiatives in regions previously occupied by AS.
Ambassador Ahmed Al-Rumaithi, who held a special meeting with the Minister of Energy & Water Resources of the Federal Government of Somalia, accompanied by the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Agency SODMA, unveiled the plan.
