The leader of Somalia’s Southwest State, Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe, on Sunday chaired an extraordinary regional cabinet meeting in Baidoa to discuss the security situation and ongoing military operations against Al-Shabaab.
The meeting focused on recent security developments across the region and efforts to eliminate the militant group from areas under the administration of Southwest State.
Regional cabinet members discussed the prevailing security challenges and the measures needed to strengthen security operations against Al-Shabaab.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of strengthening coordination among regional security agencies and other relevant institutions to support the ongoing military campaign.
The discussions come amid continued efforts by the Federal Government and regional administrations to intensify military operations against Al-Shabaab in affected areas.
The Southwest State administration reaffirmed its commitment to supporting security efforts aimed at defeating the militant group and improving stability across the region.
Forces allied to former Southwest State President Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen have emerged as a major challenge to stability in the region, adding another layer of complexity to the security situation in the region.
