The Somaliland Intelligence Agency (NIA) has announced the arrest of two individuals alleged to be involved in a plot to commit murders and incite chaos in Borama, Awdal region. According to a statement released on the agency’s X page, these individuals were part of a group reportedly “sent from Mogadishu to destabilize Somaliland.”
The NIA’s statement indicated that the arrested individuals are members of the Somaliland Intelligence Service (NISA), and were part of a larger network planning violent activities in Borama.
The agency reported that while two members have been apprehended, six others remain at large.
In response to the threat, the NIA has urged the public to report any suspicious activity to local security agencies to aid in maintaining safety and order.
The agency said it has been active in countering security threats, with similar arrests made in the previous year involving groups accused of planning attacks.
