Somalia’s Ministry of Interior Calls for Immediate and Unconditional Ceasefire in Ceerigaabo Conflict

The Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation of the federal government of Somalia Somali has called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in the ongoing conflict in Ceerigaabo, Sanaag region. The clashes have resulted in both human and material losses, sparking widespread concern.

In a press statement, the Ministry urged the warring parties from both side to replace hostilities with dialogue to prevent further bloodshed in the areas affected by the fighting. The statement emphasized the importance of prioritizing peace and stability through negotiation rather than violence.

The conflict, now in its third day, has had a severe impact on residents of Ceerigaabo, exacerbating their suffering and disrupting daily life. Calls for calm and resolution through peaceful means have been increasing from various quarters as the situation remains tense.

These clashes come amid recent political developments in Somaliland, following the election of President Abdirahman Cirro. However, the ongoing conflicts indicate that the tensions between Somaliland and SSC-Khaatumo remain unresolved and continue to escalate.
