Somalia and Tanzania Strengthen Defense Ties with High-Level Military Delegation Visit

In a significant step towards bolstering defense cooperation, Somalia’s Ambassador to Tanzania, Ilyas Ali Hassan, alongside Deputy Commander of the National Armed Forces, Madey Nurey Sheikh, welcomed a high-ranking Tanzanian military delegation led by Lieutenant General Salum Haji Othman, Chief of Staff of the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces, to Mogadishu’s Adan Abdulle International Airport today.

Hassan indicated that the visit marks a pivotal moment in fostering strategic partnerships between the two nations.

The Tanzanian delegation will engage in high-level discussions with Somali military leaders to exchange best practices and explore avenues for enhanced collaboration in defense and security.

The leaders indicated that the initiative underscores a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and addressing mutual challenges in the region. The talks are expected to yield actionable strategies for advancing peace, stability, and capacity building in the defense sector.

The Somali government has expressed optimism about the outcomes of the visit, signaling a new chapter in regional security cooperation.
