The Ministry of Health and Social Care of the Federal Government of Somalia has handed over three new emergency vehicles to the Health Administration of Hiiraan Region.
These vehicles reportedly purchased through the Damal Caafimaad project and facilitated by Save the Children, are aimed at improving the quality of healthcare services in the region.
The Ministry oversees 60 health facilities, including the main hospital in Hiiraan and hospitals in Matabaan, Buuloburde, Jalalaqsi, Maxaas, and Moqokori, all of which provide free medical services.
More than 500 healthcare workers, including doctors, nurses, midwives, and other essential staff, operate these services. Last year, over 1.3 million individuals, including children, women, the elderly, internally displaced persons, and pastoralists reportedly benefited from the region’s free healthcare services.
The Ministry of Health and Social Care indicated that it is continuously working to ensure equitable access to healthcare services, enhance service quality, and improve accountability in health operations
