Somalia’s Minister of Finance . Bihi Egeh, has been named the African Finance Minister of the Year 2025 by the African Leadership Magazine, in recognition of his outstanding leadership in driving Somalia’s economic reforms and promoting fiscal transparency.
The award highlights Minister Bihi’s role in steering key economic milestones, including Somalia’s progress toward debt relief under the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Initiative and implementing significant reforms that have enhanced public financial management and transparency.
Minister Bihi will officially receive the honor at the African Business Leadership Awards (ABLA) Ceremony during the Africa Summit London 2025, scheduled for July 9–10.
The Federal Government of Somalia celebrated the achievement as a proud moment, reflecting international confidence in the country’s financial reforms and the broader governance agenda under President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
