The Minister of Justice and Constitution of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Moalim Mohamud, arrived in Baidoa today, the interim capital of South West State, to participate in the inauguration of a newly constructed prison.
The purpose of the visit includes inspecting the facility’s construction and operations, including the cells and overall structure. The new prison is expected to address the growing need for secure detention centers for convicted individuals and suspects awaiting trial.
Minister Hassan Macallim is also scheduled to hold separate meetings with officials and officers from the Somali Correctional Forces, who oversee the management and security of detainees at the facility.
The leaders indicated development demonstrates the government’s commitment to strengthening the justice sector and improving infrastructure to support law enforcement and judicial processes.
