Somalia’s Special Envoy for drought issues, Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame held a meeting with the leaders of Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Development Organization of Switzerland.
The crucial meeting on drought was held at the city of Bern, the capital of Switzerland on Wednesday.
Abdirahman Abdiishakur said he discussed with Somalia’s ambassador to Switzerland ways to enhance aid for drought relief and also deliberated on the ways to deal with climate issues in the country.
“Had a great meeting today in Bern with the Swiss Development and Cooperation. We discussed increasing their support to end the drought and hunger crisis in Somalia, as well as helping our country build our resilience, adapt to and mitigate climate change.” Abdirahman Abdishakur said in a statement.
Somalia’s Special Envoy for Drought Response Abdirahman Abdiishakur has been raising awareness on the drought situation in the country.
This has contributed to support from various quarters to mitigate the situation since his appointment.
