Somalia: UAE Hands Over Asphalt for Ceeldaahir-Ceerigaabo Road Construction in Puntland

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially handed over asphalt material to the Puntland regional government for the construction of the Ceeldaahir-Ceerigaabo tarmac road.

The handover ceremony was attended by Puntland’s Speaker of Parliament, Abdirizack Ahmed Said along with parliamentarians, ministers, and members of the Ceeldaahir-Ceerigaabo Road Construction Committee.

Speaker Abdirizack Ahmed Said emphasized that the arrival of the shipment at Boosaaso Port was timely, addressing a crucial infrastructure need.

He also urged the road construction committee to expedite the project and ensure its completion within a short period.

“Every step toward development requires perseverance and patience. The construction of this road is a shared aspiration of the Puntland people, and nothing will hinder us from completing it on time,” said Speaker Abdirizack

He called on all stakeholders to actively participate in the project, recognizing its vital role in connecting Puntland’s regions and strengthening links with other parts of the country. The speaker reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating the work to ensure timely completion.

“Progress requires a long-term vision and continuous effort. Puntland is dedicated to completing this road, and it is a collective responsibility for all of us,” he added.

The Puntland administration also highlighted its dual focus on security and development, balancing efforts to combat ISIS militants in the Bari region while advancing critical infrastructure projects.

Officials have urged collective support to ensure the successful execution of both security and development initiatives.
