The National Emergency Committee has yesterday provided $2,000 in cash support to the families of each of the 36 victims who were killed in the recent terrorist attack at Lido Beach.
The federal Somali government has immediately established the committee after the attack to manage the emergency response and support the victims of famous beach attack.
The committee has been coordinating efforts to assist those affected by the attack and ensure an effective response in support of many families affected by attack.
The attack, which targeted civilians at the popular beach, resulted in numerous casualties, with 32 people killed and 63 others injured. The violence was claimed by Al-Shabaab fighters and after the attack the federal government of Somalia has intensified security operations in response to security and humanitarian needs.
The establishment of the committee by the federal government of Somalia was part of a broader government initiative to improve emergency response capabilities and reinforce security measures in Mogadishu.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud promised a total war against Al-Shabab fighters and said that it is time to come together to defeat the enemy and indicated the military’s intensfied operations in parts of the country gained significant ground from the group.
