Somalia: Special DANAB Forces eliminate several AS fighters in a planned operations in Galgadud, reports.

There are various reports of a serious operations carried out today by the Danab special forces against members of the Al-Shabaab group in the outskirts of ​​Eeldheer district in the Galgaduud region, which reportedly caused heavy losses to Al-Shabab fighters.

The tough operations which took place as planned, was carried out by the Danab special forces in the forested area, outskirts of Gerile area in the east of the region.

A brief statement from the federal government of Somalia indicated that the operation neutralized 12 Al-Shabaab members and wounded 22 others who were hiding in the forest.

“Danab special forces have eliminated 12 Al-Shabab fighters while 22 other members were injured in the planned operations carried out by the army in the forested area outskirts of Gerile area under Eeldheer district in the east of Galgaduud region,” the statement said.

The statement also added that the members who were killed were insurgents who were being pursued by the Somali National Army and successful eliminated them after planned operations.

“This operation was aimed at tracking down remnants of terrorist militias hiding in the forest areas of Galgaduud region,” the press release said.

The situation in the area currently tense, and there is still no official communication from Al-Shabaab fighters regarding the operations that the army claimed to be successful.

In the central regions of the country, planned heavy operations have been ongoing in recent times in collaboration with the federal government forces and organised local forces known as Macawisley.

This operation comes at a time when the forces of the Federal Government of Somalia have intensified and increased their operations against Al-Shabaab in order to eliminate Al-Shabaab from the remaining areas in the country.
