The Somali National Disaster Management Agency (SODMA) has sent humanitarian aid to the city of Baydhabo, the temporary capital of the South West State of Somalia, to assist vulnerable families in need.
The aid, delivered on four planes, is planned to be distributed to impoverished families in Baydhabo and surrounding areas within the South West State.
Speaking at Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport, Sahra Ali Yusuf, Director of the Humanitarian Aid Department at SODMA, provided further details on the relief initiative.
Sahra stated that SODMA has increased its distribution of aid to federal member states in Somalia as a preventive measure against the anticipated drought crisis facing the country.
This particular aid shipment to the South West State was a donation from the People’s Republic of China. The National Disaster Management Agency (SODMA) indicated it continues to coordinate and manage humanitarian assistance received from various governments, aimed at alleviating the challenges faced by affected communities.
The National Disaster Management Agency indicated it will continues its commitment to providing aid, with plans underway to dispatch additional assistance to the needy people and swiftly respond to emergencies.
