Somalia Prime Minister appoints committee to look into disputed election commission members.

The Prime Minister of the Federal government of Somalia Mohamed Hussein Roble has appointed a committee to assess the allegations against the members of the national electoral technical Committee.

A statement from the Prime Minister’s office said the commission , upon looking in to the issues raised, would verify the allegations against members of the disputed technical committee.

The statement from the Prime Minister’s office however did not specify the names or numbers that make up the committee.

“The  Prime Minister of the federal government of Somalia has appointed a ministerial-level committee to verify the evidence against  the members of the electoral Commission of the two levels of complaint in accordance with article 1 of the national electoral Consultative Agreement.”  read part of the statement published on the website of the Prime Minister’s Office and the government Spokesman’s Office.

Recently, the terms of the agreement signed at the Afisiyoni tent included that the regional administrations submit to the office of the prime minister the members of the disputed electoral commission. The Federal Electoral Commission (FEC) has been criticized by the Union of Candidates, who raised concerns about the inclusion of military officials and civil servants in the commission .
