The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamsa Abdi Barre, has commended the strenuous efforts of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, particularly under the leadership of Khadiija Al-Makhzoumi, who has been reassigned to the Ministry of Family Affairs.
Speaking at a handover ceremony where the outgoing and incoming ministers transitioned between their respective ministries,Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre urged each minister to prioritize the completion of their outstanding tasks.
He highlighted the pressing issue of waste disposal, particularly in coastal areas, which poses a significant threat to the environment.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of accountability and action in addressing this issue, urging collaboration to mitigate the environmental impact.
“The environment requires the most urgent attention. Minister Khadiija has frequently shared with me footage from various locations, including the beaches, which are severely affected. The state of our city and its cleanliness is evident for all to see,” said PM Hamza Abdi Barre.
Bashir Mohamed Jama Goobe has assumed the role of Minister of Environment and Climate Change, succeeding Khadiija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, who now leads the Ministry of Family Affairs in Somalia.
