The Regional Assembly of Jubbaland held a session in Kismayo, where they voted to grant President Ahmed Mohamed Islam Madobe additional time to appoint his Cabinet Ministers.
During the 1st session of the 5th meeting which was attended by 61 members, the Assembly overwhelmingly voted by a show of hands to extend the timeframe for President Madobe to nominate the new Cabinet of the Jubbaland Regional State.
Speaking to the media, Abdi Mohamed Abdirahman, the Speaker of the Jubbaland Regional Assembly, announced that the duration for appointing the Cabinet had been extended by two months.
Following the controversial 2024 elections in Kismayo, which the Federal Government of Somalia had rejected, both the Speaker of the Assembly and President Ahmed Madobe were re-elected, while his deputies were also reappointed.
Despite the Federal Government’s disapproval through the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation, President Madobe’s administration has ignored the objections and has yet to hold an inauguration ceremony, similar to the previous elections conducted in the same manner.
