Somalia: Hir-Shabelle Deputy President Urges Macawiisley Fighters to Intensify Operations Against AS

The Deputy President of Hir-Shabelle State of Somalia Yusuf Ahmed Hagar Dabageed, has called on the leadership of the Macawiisley militia in the Hiiraan region specifically in the areas of Hareeri Madoobe, Xaawa Gadiid, and Ceel Dhururuq to step up their operations against Al-Shabaab.

Dabageed highlighted that the ongoing tough coordinated operations demonstrate strong collaboration between the Federal Government of Somalia, the Hir-Shabelle State administration, and local communities in their joint efforts to eliminate the militant group.

He emphasized the need for continued momentum to achieve the intended security objectives in the region and country.

The Deputy President also praised the ongoing military campaigns across Hir-Shabelle, acknowledging the vital role played by the organised local forces known as Macawisley forces.

He urged them to persist in their operations, stating that only a few areas remain to be fully secured.

In response, leaders of the Macawiisley militia in Hareeri Madoobe, Xaawa Gadiid, and Ceel Dhururuq reaffirmed their commitment to the fight against Al-Shabaab but called for full support from both the Federal Government and the Hir-Shabelle administration.

They stressed the need for logistical and material assistance, citing their extensive knowledge of the local terrain as a key advantage in the battle against the militants.
