Reports from Mudug region indicate that a heavy airstrike took place in the region, which targeted Al-Shabaab bases.
The attack was carried out by the federal government forces backed by international security partners and took place between Aad and Jeh-Jeha.
Reliable sources says the bombing was specifically targeted at a place where Al-Shabaab was gathering and regrouping and has resulted in casualties including death and injuries to the Al-Shabaab group.
The military officials have revealed that leaders and militia members of the group were killed at the scene, but their number is officially known as casualties are expected to be officially reported.
The security officials added that they have cleared Al-Shabaab bases in Jeh-Jeha area where heavy operations have been going on for the last few days.
The situation is currently very tense, and military movements are felt in many parts of the Mudug region in central Somalia.
There is no official statement from Al-Shabaab group regarding the attack which the Somali government claims to have achieved.
