Somalia: Former South West President  of Somalia  Sharif Hassan Sheikh held at the airport barred  travelling to Baidoa

Former South West State of Somalia President Sharif Hassan Sheikh Aden has been barred from leaving Baidoa, the capital of the Transitional  Government of South West Somalia.

According to the  report Sharif Hassan Sheikh was held  at the airport in Mogadishu,  when he was about to travel to Baidoa, where he was contesting for parliamentary seat.

Sharif Hassan has already been given the seat according to information about the seat in Baidoa, and now there are reports that another person is reserved for the seat.

President of the South West State of Somalia Abdi Aziz Hassan Mohamed Lafta-Gareen has previously barred several candidates from leaving Mogadishu to run for parliament, in Baidoa.

Among the members previously barred from leaving Mogadishu was the First Deputy Speaker of the former Somali Parliament, Abdi Wali Mudey, who was barred from leaving Mogadishu to run for his clan seat.

South West has also issued strict orders to candidates going to Baidoa, ordering them not to send troops or weapons to areas in the South West.
