An explosion in Baladweyne, the capital of the Hiiraan region, has resulted in the death of at least one person and injured more than two others, according to multiple sources confirmed by Mustaqbal Media.
The blast reportedly occurred in the Howlwadaag neighborhood, and shortly afterward, heavy gunfire was heard.

Reports indicate that the explosion took place near a meeting attended by traditional elders and individuals organizing operations against the militant group ‘AS.’
The meeting was reportedly focused on mobilizing efforts against the group in areas under their control.
The incident happened in the western part of Baladweyne, and as more details emerge, the situation remains fluid.
