Somalia: Election of parliamentary seats kicks off today in Bossaso as security tightened.

Elections for the House of the People in Bossaso are set to take place today, Saturday, as well as on Wednesday, as announced Puntland Electoral Commission yesterday.

The Puntland Indirect Election Implementation Committee has yesterday announced the names of the people who are expected to run in the elections.

Some candidates are set to give up and withdraw the race before the election to make things easier.

16 seats are all likely to be elected today, as it is not open to tough competition.

Security in Bossaso, the commercial capital of Puntland, has been tightened in recent hours, with areas close to the polling stations closed.

The security are conducting heavy operations in the neighborhoods of Bossaso.

The lower house elections are scheduled to be concluded by 15th March which is the new deadline after the previous 25th February could not be achieved.
