Somalia cabinet approves one person, one vote legislation following the weekly session chaired by PM

The Somali Cabinet have today on Thursday held their regular meeting in Somalia’s capital,Mogadishu, which was chaired by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.

The Cabinet Meeting was attended by most of the cabinet members and they approved one person, one vote elections following the weekly session chaired by the Prime Minister of the federal government of Somalia Hamza Abdi Barre.

The members of the cabinet have recently passed the election law and the party law, which is the beginning of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s plan to conduct one person one vote elections.

These two laws will also be presented to the Somali parliament for approval as heated debate is expected as members of the opposition wing parliamentarians have also been conducting political activities.

The cabinet meeting also raised the general situation in the country, especially the security sector, while listening to reports from the Ministries of Internal Security and Defense of the federal government of Somalia which highlighted the general security of the country and the ongoing tough operations to eliminate the Al-Shabaab fighters from the country.

The members of the cabinet greatly praised the achievements of the federal government forces in the ongoing tough operations against Al-Shabab fighters and liberating key areas especially the achievements in Jubbaland.
