Somali youth join Australian Police.

Somali youths have joined the Australian Police Force, particularly in Victoria, after attending the State Police Academy in 2017 and finally having the opportunity.

Farah Mohamud Warsame, chairman of the Somali Community in Australia, said a multicultural team had been deployed to the Police Training School during the training.

Somali Community Chairman Farah Mohamud Warsame said two people have joined the Police Force while a third is finalizing training to meet the requirements.

Young people who are joining the police are subjected to rigorous tests such as innocence, tax exemption, swimming, running and physical appearance and this has led to the test being finalized to get those qualified and those doesn’t

“Police exams for people of different backgrounds are subject to scrutiny by any party. If you fail, you will not be given a chance, if your background is wrong, you have not paid taxes or have a fine.” said Farah Mohamud Warsame to VOA Somali Service.

Australian Police membership is subject to strict requirements, and the training provided to the force is accompanied by a physical and professional examination to become a fully-fledged officer, according to a police official.
