Somali Prime Minister Hamza Inaugurates Emergency and Trauma Center at Mogadishu’s Madina Hospital.

Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has officially inaugurated a new Emergency and Trauma Center at Madina Hospital, designed to provide swift medical assistance to those in critical need. The Prime Minister praised the addition to the hospital, emphasizing its vital role in addressing the country’s healthcare needs, particularly in response to the surge in casualties from recent bombings across Somalia.

During the opening, Prime Minister Hamza highlighted that this new facility was established as part of lessons learned from past tragic incidents, urging that an effective emergency response infrastructure is essential for the country. He pointed out that a dedicated team is now in place to respond quickly to crisis situations, providing specialized trauma care and other critical services in a timely manner.

The Prime Minister also appealed to citizens to strengthen their cooperation with government agencies, emphasizing that unity is crucial for Somalia’s recovery from past hardships. “We must work towards our own protection. The fact that we are here today with an upgraded emergency response system shows the path we are on. I am told that our hospital equipment is among the best, even in East Africa,” said Prime Minister Hamza.

In addition to the trauma center, the government has established multiple emergency response units, including a national blood bank and other critical health facilities. Prime Minister Hamza also encouraged the Somali armed forces in their operations against militant group Al-Shabaab, reaffirming the government’s support and commitment to their mission.
